15th September 2012
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: SSW
Wind Stength: F3
Surf / Sea State: flat
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: warm
Max Speed: 18kts (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 12 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Just about to enter the spa, I decided to double check the wind speed at the Martello - 12kts SSW game on. Back to the house hook up the trailer, text Dave Coles for a session at the dip.
Initially started rigging 8.5/RRD Fireride, but the sea breeze eased a bit. Dave rigged 12M and formula so rigged 9.5 XR/ Phantom.
Pete Goodchild turned up rigging the same 9.5 Serverne for what turned out to be a very nice sail beating to the docks and reach back.
Dave was flying on the Formula, always ahead on the beat cross over. My outhaul adjuster broke at the Manor and thankfully made it to the beach, where DC promptly change all "my pussy knots to proper racing knots".
Race back on to the docks, but the wind was easing and no formula head wants to get caught in 8kts against a long bd, so he turned back whilst I held of Pete to finish.
My slot flusher was now almost totally off, sending a 6" waterfall on the deck, £1500 bd, but they cant make a decent slot flusher, mmm.
The race back was an easy win for Pete, planing on the fin, although Pete grounded out on the reef/shelf near the bird sanctuary, giving me a chance!
I chose the direct run back. I don’t know how Pete can stay on the plane with the Phantom track fully back in 10kts! Pete reached out to sea, so I was in with a chance hugging the coast line, till I hit another Fcuking lobster pot, game over, as the recovery was woeful.
Still only 50 metres behind, I need a decent gybe to the line, but cocked it up. Next time...
Brilliant end of summer coast line sailing, good practice racing, with Formula Head DC, who was just buzzing us all over the place. The sea was flat except the fludges, was well rough...
Disappointed I now have a boom and slot flusher to repair.. Lost on Camelot who was no Nijinsky in the St Leger (triple crown winner), so regretfully its only 2 wins out of 3 bets on this beautiful thoro'bred
